Atlanta (Georgia): At least one person was killed and two others wounded in a shooting at a high school graduation ceremony in Clayton County of the United States’ southeastern province Georgia on Friday night (local time). The incident took place on the campus of Mount Zion High School.
According to the Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services, one adult female was killed after being shot multiple times. The injured have been shifted to the hospital, reported Fox News. According to the police, graduation ceremony was over when the shooting happened.
An investigation is underway. This comes barely hours after when at least eight people were shot dead in Santa Fe High School in an early morning shootout in the southeastern Texas city of Santa Fe, about 50 kilometres away from Houston. Assistant principal Cris Richardson told CNN that the gunman has been arrested. A second person has been detained as well. At least, one police officer was also injured in the shooting, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on Twitter.
The sheriff further added that the shooter, who was arrested was a former student of the school.
As per media reports, explosive devices were found at the site of the shooting and other surrounding areas.
The death toll is likely to rise as multiple deaths have been reported due to the shooting incident, two law enforcement sources told CNN.
An investigation for the same is currently on, according to the police. (ANI)
