After Oscars India eyes Emmy with Salim-Sulaiman

New Delhi, August 29: They have given smashing numbers like “Jalwa”, “Haule haule” and “Chak De India” and others and yet again Bollywood’s composer duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant are all set to raise the prestidge of India globally at the prestigious “Emmy Awards” in Los Angeles on Aug 30th, 2009.

The two grabbed the nominations for their work in popular American show “Wonder Pets” – they scored for the episode “Save The Bengal Tiger”.

“To be honest, it hasn’t really ruined in till now because we have been so busy with our projects here that we haven’t got the time to think about it. I think once we are in the flight, we will finally feel the warmth,” Sulaiman told “IANS” before leaving from Mumbai for the US on Thursday.

The composer said, “We are going with a free state of mind. We have already achieved since we have been nominated for something as honorable as the Emmy. If we’ll win it, it will be the icing on the cake. It’s really a thing of pride for our country since after the Oscars now we have a place in the Emmys as well.”

The music director also feels that the nomination will open the doors for more international platforms for the talents of India to be presented in front of the world.

“If we win, hopefully it will definitely flung open the international doors for us. It’s something really that every one might just dream of but we’ve achieved, people notice you, recognise your work, and will change the view point. These things open room for various alliances which surely helps you a lot,” briefed Sulaiman.

The duo of brothers has already given their music for hit films like “Fashion”, “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and “Chak De! India” and they are coming up with “Teen Patti”, “Pyaar Impossible”, “Kurbaan” and “Kites”.

After Oscars India is definitely eying the two to come grabbed the Emmy awards in their hands as they land on the Indian soil.
