After Muzaffarnagar, BJP leaders try to withdraw cases related Saharanpur riots

Lucknow: After the Yogi Adityanath government initiated the process to withdraw 131 cases related to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, BJP leaders are set to withdraw cases related to Saharanpur riots. It must be noted that Saharanpur witnessed communal clashes after a “Shobha Yatra” led by BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal without police permission. According to Dalits of Sadak Dudhli village and Saharanpur city the clashes were organised to communally polarise the area ahead of the Municipal Corporation elections due in May.

A saffron mob led by BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal had vandalized the residence senior superintendent of police Love Kumar, scaring the police officer’s children and relatives who were inside the house at the time.

An FIR was filed against 24 youths from both the communities as well as Lakhanpal and Gumber. Besides, 300 unidentified rioters were booked.
