Hyderabad: In order to add connectivity to Hyderabad Metro Rail, trams may be introduced in the city soon. The introduction of the new transport system was proposed by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
According to the report published in Deccan Chronicle, the project will be first implemented in IT and Musi Corridor. It is expected that with the introduction of a new transport system, the use of the private vehicle will reduce.
It may be mentioned that the average speed of trams will be 25 kmph. The ticket fare is expected to be Rs. 6 in non-AC trams whereas, in AC-trams, it is likely to be Rs. 16. The cost of the ticket will be the same irrespective of the distance.
Feasibility and Social Impact Assessment studies are expected to be conducted in the month of September this year.
