After JNU & DU ABVP loses Gujarat University polls: Disturbing sign for BJP?

Gujarat: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had reportedly lost the student body elections that were held in Gujarat Central University. The Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University student body elections had reported similar losses.

The independent candidates Dileep Kumar and Arvind have won the student elections of the School of International Studies said a source.

The other student groups like Birsa-Ambedkar-Phule-Student-Association had also boycotted the student body elections but stood against the ABVP, reported the media source.

As per the Lyngdoh committee, the Gujarat Central University doesn’t have a students’ union but has a student council in its place.

Kavita Krishnan, Secretary of the All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) and also former joint secretary of JNU students’ union has said that the Gujarat Central University elections’ result indicates that the “youths in Gujarat are increasingly getting disillusioned” with ruling party BJP which is “changing mood of the country.”

After the party suffered huge loss in student elections at JNU and DU, it has now lost the Gujarat Central University elections making it ABVP’s third consecutive loss.
