Mumbai, August 27: Earlier this year, Aftab Shivdasani was seen in ALOO CHAAT that had turned out to be a decent earner at the box office. Next to follow was KAMBAKKHT ISHQ, which, in spite of being an Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer, did have ample scenes for Aftab to demonstrate his comic timing all over again. Now he would be seen in DADDY COOL which promises ample ‘masti’ and ‘dhamaal’ all over again. One look at the promos and you are rest assured that audiences have yet another laugh riot in the offering.
Even though the film is produced by Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria, not many know that it is directed by K Murali Mohan Rao and not Indra Kumar himself. Didn’t it ever come to the back of the mind of Aftab that if only Indra Kumar would have directed the film, it could probably have been a different experience altogether? After all he has made many a successful comedies before!
DADDY COOL Music Review
“I did ask Indu-ji if he would be the director of the film but he said no. I didn’t enquire anything more thereafter”, says Aftab in a matter of fact tone, “See, I don’t step into the domain of other people. Film making is a creative field and I am sure that there would have been certain creative decisions behind K Murali Mohan Rao-ji being asked to direct the film.”
Wasn’t it inhibiting for Aftab to be working with a film maker who is perhaps the senior most directors that he would have come across?
“No, it wasn’t since I have earlier worked with him in KYA YAHI PYAAR HAI (where Ameesha Patel was paired opposite him)”, reveals Aftab, “He is very sweet gentleman. In any case, for me the setup was of utmost importance and I truly fell in love with the character and the film the moment it was narrated to me. DADDY COOL was such a sweet film on paper itself and the real magic unfolded when we shot for it. It was a riot to be working with a dozen odd characters in the film.”
