JODHPUR: Shambhu Lal Regar, who is accused of hacking, burning alive Mohammed Afrazul, a migrant labourer was hailed as ‘Hero’ in a tableau during Ram Navmi celebrations in the city on Sunday.
Pictures shows a man bears a striking resemblance as Regar sitting regally on a decorated chair with a pickaxe in his hand have surfaced on social media.
He was dressed in clothes similar to what the killer donned when he committed the murder. There was a banner hailing the killer as “the one who curbed love jihad”, reported news agency ANI.

“I just wanted to express my regard for Regar. His commitment towards Hinduism inspired me. There was no intention to hurt anybody’s sentiments,” said Hari Singh Panwar, who organised the tableau and is the co-treasurer of Shiv Sena’s Jodhpur chapter, reported Hindustan Times.
Shambhu is currently in the Jodhpur jail after he allegedly hacked the 45-year-old migrant labourer from West Bengal to death and set his body on fire in Rajsamand district December 7, 2017.
After the barbaric act, he had also uploaded a series of videos, including the one of the crime to social media with inflammatory and communal comments to defend the act, in December which invited a nationwide outrage.
