JAIPUR: There has now been a new turn in the brutal murder case of Muslim laborer Mohammed Afrazul in Rajsamand district of Udaipur division.
According to Times Of India reports, it has been revealed that the ‘hate’ killer Shambhalal Regar used the love jihad tag to hide his illicit relationship.
The shocking details about the accused “illicit relationship” emerged during police interrogation and on-camera statements of the girl and her family.
The reports says that, Shambhalal, after bringing back the girl, who eloped with a guy, kept her in a rented room and was into relationship with her for nearly 10 months.
“We have videographed the statements of mother of the girl (police wished not to name her) who clearly told that the accused Shambulal was asked to bring back her daughter from a man in West Bengal with whom she had eloped. The girl returned but she was kept at a rented house in Rajsamand by the accused for 10 months. Woman also said that in the fear of society and defamation she did not tell about it to the police,” Times of India quoted a senior officer of Rajsamand police who interrogated the accused.
When the girl’s family girl asked him to bring her back and was planning to take legal action against him, Shambulal, in order to deviate everyone’s attention and to not get defame him in front of his own family, gave the angle of love Jihad to the whole incident.
With similar sentiment, he chose Afrazul and killed him.
“He was into illicit relation with a girl in the town for more than 10 months. The girl too was questioned who said she was continuously been hassled by the accused Shambulal. Thus, in order to deviate everyone’s attention towards this issue he himself planned to do something that can change the perception of people,” Times of India quoted Anand Srivastav, Inspector General of police, Udaipur Range, as saying.
Police also refuted the claims saying that Shambulal actually wanted to kill somebody else not Afrajul.
A senior officer, said, “His wished to create terror and do something which can make him a hero among some fundamentalist groups. He knew Afrajul was a housing contractor and on the day of incident he asked him to come along to see a site where he asked him to start some construction. We will produce the interrogation note of the accused, whenever sought in the court and the videography.”
On 6th December, 48-year-old Afrazul, a migrant worker in West Bengal was hacked and burnt alive by Shambulal. His young nephew filmed the ghastly crime and posted it on social media platforms.
And thinking Shambulal was innocent, people were sending donations to this man who chalked out the brutal plan.
