Afghanistan President Ghani arrives in India on three-day visit

Afghanistan President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday arrived in New Delhi for his three-day state visit to India, with the visiting dignitary expected to hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his trip.

President Ghani was received by Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha as minister-in-waiting upon his arrival at the Palam Air Force Station.

On Tuesday, President Ghani will be accorded a ceremonial reception after which he would lay a wreath at Rajghat.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj would then call on the Afghan President. The visiting dignitary would call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, which will be followed by delegation-level talks between both sides would take place at the Hyderabad House here. This would be followed by the media statements.

Among other ministers expected to call on President Ghani are Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman.

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari would call on the Afghan President at 4 p.m. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda would call on Dr. Ghani at 4: 30 p.m.

The visiting dignitary would then speak at the India n Council of World Affairs Research Centre at around 6 p.m.

Later in the evening, the Afghan President would meet President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Dr. Ghani would on Wednesday meet with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM representatives.

The Afghan President would depart from the Air Force Station in Palam later in the evening. (ANI)
