Kabul: The Afghan armed forces have rescued at least seven civilians who were kept as prisoners inside a Taliban-run cell in southern Uruzgan province.
At least eight militants were also killed during the clashes with the Afghan forces, Khaama Press quoted, citing the Ministry of Defense (MoD), as saying in a statement.
According to the report, a vehicle, six motorcycles, 4000 Kilograms of explosives, ammunition, drugs, and weapons were also destroyed during the same operation.
Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in the southern parts of the country.
The Taliban is aggressively operating in a few of its districts and is well-known to often carry out terror activities.
This comes nearly one and half month after the Afghan armed forces had rescued at least 105 civilians in southern Helmand province.
