Afghan soldier, civilian kill two US-led soldiers in Kandahar

According to a statement released by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the incident occurred Thursday when an Afghan soldier and a civilian opened fire on the foreign troops in a military outpost in the troubled Kandahar province.

“Two individuals, one believed to be an Afghan National Army service member and the other in civilian clothing, turned their weapons indiscriminately against International Security Assistance Force and Afghan National Security Force service members in southern Afghanistan today, killing two ISAF service members,” said the ISAF statement.

The civilian was a literacy teacher that had grabbed a weapon from a soldier.

The incident came in wake of fresh violent clashes in several provinces of the war-ravaged country over burning of the Holy Qur’an by US-led forces, leaving at least 30 people, including two US soldiers, dead and around 180 others injured.
