New Delhi: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will come to India on a two-day visit on September 14 during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was announced on Saturday.
“The President will hold discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
“Their discussions will cover a wide range of matters of mutual interest.”
Ghani wil also interact with the business community and address a leading think tank.
“The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to continue the close and frequent consultations between the two friendly neighbours, including at the highest level,” the statement said.
“Such interaction is the hallmark of their strategic partnership and has guided the strengthening of all-round cooperation between the two countries,” it added.
India helped in the construction of a new building of the Afghan parliament in Kabul that was inaugurated in December last year and in the reconstruction of a mega dam in the country’s Herat province that was inaugurated in June this year.
