Afghan president says Kabul “under control”

Kabul, January 18: Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Monday said the security of the capital Kabul was under control after militants, including suicide bombers, launched a series of attacks in the heart of the city.

“The Afghan President wants to assure the inhabitants of Kabul that the security situation is under control and order has once again been restored,” Karzai’s palace quoted him as saying in a written statement.
