Afghan, Nigerian held with 1.6 kg heroin

New Delhi, April 06: An Afghan national and a Nigerian were arrested here allegedly with 1.6 kg of heroin worth around Rs three crore in the international market, police said today.

Mohd Sarwar (32), hailing from Kandahar and Emeka Paul (27) from Nigeria were apprehended from near Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka recently.

“We have received a tip-off about foreign nationals involved in supply of drugs from across the border to various countries with Delhi as a transit point. Investigations led to the arrests of two people,” Arun Kampani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.

Sarwar was carrying heroin packet by wrapping it on his right leg below the knee resembling a plaster. It was also learnt that these drug dealers enter India on the pretext of medical treatment but are actually into drug business, Kampani said.
