Afghan bomb attack kills 35, injures 42

Kabul, March 14: At least 35 people have been killed and 42 others injured following a bomb attack on an army recruitment center in the northern Afghanistan.

There was a bomb attack at the army recruitment center in Afghanistan’s Kunduz city, a Press TV correspondent reported Monday.

According to the Afghan police, the attack took place at 2:00 p.m. local time, the report added.

It is said that most of the victims are civilians, but some police officers have been killed as well, the Press TV correspondent further explained.

Three policemen and four children have lost their lives in the incident, he added.

Also on Sunday, a roadside bomb claimed the lives of four Afghan civilians in Kandahar province, where police reportedly discovered two more explosive devices planted on the road and defused them.

Local people said two Afghan civilians died earlier on Saturday in a raid by US-led troops in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.

Since the United States 2001 invasion of Afghanistan — in the so-called war on terrorism — following the collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, the Asian nation has witnessed a remarkable number of attacks and explosions claiming the lives of many Afghan civilians.
