(Siasat News) A meeting of the Old Boys’ Association of Urdu Arts (Evening) College was held under the chairmanship of its President, Mr. Mohammed Moinuddin Akhtar at Urdu Hall, Himayathnagar yesterday. Various issues were considered in the meeting. It was felt that since Urdu is the second official language of the state, it should get its due share. The members of the Association felt that the condition to affix signatures on official files in Telugu language is unnecessary. Everyone should have freedom in this regard.
Dr. Mohammed Qutubuddin Saleem, Vice President of Anjuman-e-Taraqui-e-Urdu of Greater Hyderabad told that instead of organizing meetings and seminars on Urdu, we should make attempts to promote Urdu right from primary level in schools. We should work for getting Urdu students admitted in the month of June when the schools reopen after summer vacation. He requested the members of Old Boys’ Association to spare at least one hour daily to propagate this message. They should respond to the conspiracies of vanishing Urdu from Urdu medium schools. He strongly condemned the attempts to establish the Department of Telugu in Maulana Azad National Urdu University and said that it is a conspiracy to put an end to Urdu.
