Advocates rally for HC bench in Rayalaseema

Kadapa, November 02: Demanding the establishment of High Court bench in Rayalaseema region, hundreds of advocates took out a massive rally in Kadapa town on Monday.

The rally, which commenced at the district court reached Kotireddy Circle where the protestors formed a human chain and later continued the rally uptill the district collectorate and staged a protest there.

Placards and banners were flagged and slogans were raised asking the government to concede to their demand.

Speaking on the occasion, JAC convener M Venkataswamy Reddy, MLC YS Vivekananda Reddy, MLAs M Linga Reddy, G Srikanth Reddy and A Amarnath Reddy opined the decentralization of the high court is the only way to dispense a speedy justice.

They sought to know why Andhra Pradesh was lagging behind with respect to the issue when Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala which are much smaller in area are having HC benches.

Also, they wanted to know why the government is indifferent to the demand when there is nothing unconstitutional about setting up high court benches.

The advocates clarified that their agitation was not related to those agitating for HC bench between Guntur and Vijayawada.

The HC bench of Rayalaseema, which once established would benefit litigants in four Rayalaseema districts as well as Nellore district, the advocates claimed. They threatened to intensify their agitation, if their demands were not met with. Former MLAs N Varadarajulu Reddy, S Raghurami Reddy, Congress leader, C Narayana Reddy, Telugu Desam leaders S Goverdhan Reddy, S Subhan Basha, AISF district president G Maddileti and others were present.
