Advocates call bandh to demand HC Bench in coastal AP

Vijayawada, November 08: Stepping up their agitation for a High Court Bench here, advocates in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh enforced a shutdown in the city today.

The bandh was observed in Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari districts, where the protesting lawyers resorted to road blockades and appealed to shopkeepers to close their establishments.

The lawyers stopped Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Eluru, the headquarters of West Godavari district, during his visit to rain-affected areas of the region.

The advocates met Praja Rajyam President Chiranjeevi at Narsapuram in West Godavari, his native district, and appealed to him to support their demand. Chiranjeevi was also on a visit to meet farmers who lost crops due to the rains.

In Vijayawada, members of the Bar Association went around the city asking traders to support their bandh call, while a group of advocates staged protests at a bus depot.
