Allahabad, April 09: Functioning of all courts across the state is likely to be affected on Monday on account of a boycott call given by the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council in protest against the lathi charge on advocates in Kanpur.
“The UP Bar Council has called upon all of its members to abstain from judicial work on Monday. The measure has been taken to protest the lathicharge on advocates in Kanpur recently,” Bar Council Secretary P N Tyagi told.
He said the decision to this effect was taken after a fact-finding team, which was sent to Kanpur to take stock of the situation, submitted its report which alleged “apathy and utter high-handedness on part of the administration”.
Meanwhile, the High Court Bar Association here has called upon advocates at the Allahabad High Court to abstain from judicial work on April 12 and 13.
