Advani visits Somnath temple

Mumbai, September 25: Senior BJP leader LK Advani visited the famous Somnath Temple in Gujarat on Saturday.

Advani was accompanied by former BJP leader Uma Bharti to mark the 20th anniversary of his Ram Rath Yatra. Advani visits Somanth temple every year on September 25.

The Ram Rath Yatra began from Somnath on September 25, 1990 and was culminated at Ayodhya on October 30, after traversing 10,000 km.

The day is also observed as birth anniversary part mentor Pt Deendayal Upadhya.

Advani started his Ram Rath Yatra to gain support from the Hindus to build a Ram temple at disputed land in Ayodhya.

His Ram Rath Yatra helped saffron party to become second largest party in the national capital. BJP’s number of representatives rose significantly after his Ram Rath Yatra.

As the Supreme Court will here the Ayodhya Deferment verdict on September 28, his Somnath Temple visit once again reminds the hindutva wave in 1990s.

Advani started his Ram Rath Yatra from Somnath temple in Gujarat because it had witnessed several assaults from Islamic invader Mahmud Ghaznavi.
