Madikeri, June 23: Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha and senior BJP leader L K Advani today said he was not interested in the post of party President.
Mr Advani, who arrived here alng with his family members for a five-day holiday, told newsmen that he saw some reports in Delhi media projecting him as the aspirant for the top post of the party. “The party has enough leaders and many new leaders have come up and they shall assume the mantle.”, he added.
Reacting to the victory of Congress in the recent Lok Sabha elections, he said he respected the verdict of the people. The BJP is all set to function as an effective opposition. He said both BJP and Congress could “fetch three digit” seats in the elections. This proved that people had confidence in BJP also. Mr Advani said this was his second unofficial visit to Kodagu. Apart from addressing election rallies, he visited Field Marshall K.M.Cariappa at Madikeri long ago. “Cariappa was my good friend,” he added.
