New Delhi, May 28: NDA Working Chairman L K Advani today conveyed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh his concern over illegal Bangladeshi migrants getting enumerated in the ongoing Census.
The opposition leader also asked the Prime Minister to explore possibilities of implementing a system for a fixed tenure of Parliament and state legislatures in the country.
The senior BJP leader had written a letter to Singh on May 15 expressing his apprehensions of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants figuring in the National Population Register (NPR) and National Registration Identity Card (NRIC).
Sources close to Advani said the matter was discussed today between the two leaders.
“The Prime Minister agreed with Advani that this is a serious matter and should be looked into. Singh assured him that the Home Minister will examine all aspects of the issue and send a detailed reply,” the sources said.
