New Delhi, June 09: Senior BJP leader L K Advani Tuesday cautioned the party’s newly-elected MPs against falling to any “temptation” and asked them to maintain “purity in conduct”.
Addressing the BJP parliamentary party meet here, Advani asked the 58 first-time MPs to maintain “purity in their conduct”.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha also cautioned them against falling to any kind of “temptation” offered to them.
Though BJP describes itself as the “party with a difference”, its two leaders — former party president Bangaru Lakshman and Dilip Singh Judeo — were caught on camera accepting bribe.
However, three BJP Lok Sabha MPs played the role of whistle blowers in the ‘cash for vote’ scam last year.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, party’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said Advani also told the MPs that mistakes committed by first-time MPs put them as well as the party in problem.
“He said since the BJP follows certain ideologies, the MPs should also follow that in letter and spirit,” Swaraj said quoting Advani.
The BJP would hold a day-long training camp for the first-timers on the issue of conduct where they would be explained ways to avoid such problems.
