Adurs released in City as Jagruthi takes a nap

Hyderabad, January 14: Adurs, a film starring NTR Jr, was released in the city today without musch stiff resistance from Telangana activists.

Screening of the film became an uncertainty in the wake of a threat issued by Telangana Jagruti, the cultural wing of the TRS led by KCR’s daughter Kavitha, that it would obstruct the film’s screening.

At 10 am a few pro-Telangana activists gathered at the Odeon theatre near the RTC Crossroads and raised slogans opposing screening of the film. They also raised slogans in support of the demand for statehood to Telangana. Before the police, who were deployed at the theatre, got into action the protesters had dispersed.

The nearly 10-member group reassembled at the RTC Crossroads and formed a human chain in support of Telangana, distrupting traffic at this major junction for nearly 30 minutes. With the intervention of the police the agitators left the place.

Cine Planet, a popular multiplex at Kompally on the outskirts of Secunderabad, did not screen the movie. The theatre had been attacked in the past by pro-Telangana activists for screeing Arya 2, a film starring Allu Arjun.

At Moosapet, a few TRS activists walked into Shashikala theatre and demanded that the management cancel the morning show. The management complied with the demand and cancelled the show.
City police provided heavy security at all the theatres where Adurs was released following an assurance given by Director-General of Police RR Girish Kumar to the High Court that foolproof security would be provided at each theatre.
