According to Prof. Muzaffar Shahmiri, Head of the Department of Urdu, University of Hyderabad, admissions are in progress in M A Urdu in the said university. Candidates having graduation and a bachelor’s degree obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 50% or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India are eligible. Candidates who studied Urdu, Arabic or Persian as an optional subject must have obtained 50% marks and if he/she studied any of these subjects as compulsory subject than he/she must have obtained 55% marks in the same.
Since the course is now linked with computer, mass media, translation and journalism besides Urdu language and literature, its importance has been doubled. Student will get a scholarship of Rs. 750 per month. University will bear the treatment charges of the students in case of illness under medical insurance. Hostel facility is available for boys and girls.
