Admissions in medical and Dental Colleges – Muslim students face difficulties

Hyderabad: The process of online registration for admission into MBBS/BDS has already started but Kaloji Narayan Rao University of Health Sciences has imposed unnecessary condition of producing caste certificate from the Dept. of Minorities Welfare which may create problems for the Muslim students.

For SCs, STs and BCs students, the certificates issued by Tehsildar are acceptable but for Muslim students, the authorities are insisting to produce caste certificates from the Dept. of Minorities Welfare whereas the Dept. has no such system of issuing these certificates.

It seems that the university has deliberately put this condition. The students who come under BC-E category have to produce such certificates for availing of 4% reservations. The students which fall under convener category are being put to inconvenience.

This is the first time that the university has imposed such condition. Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare clarified that the authority to issue caste certificate vests with Tehsildar only.

Govt. should take necessary steps to withdraw this condition. Dy. C M, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare should take immediate steps, otherwise many Muslim candidates would be deprived of their seats.
