The movement for Muslim reservations has gained momentum in Telangana state. A massive rally was taken out for 12% Muslim reservations in Adilabad after Friday prayers which were attended by thousands of Muslims. The huge rally threw the traffic out of gear on all the routes and shook up the government missionary. This was the first occasion in Adilabad when Muslims gathered for the rally in such a large number, rising above the political, sectarian, social and factional associations. The historic demonstration for obtaining reservations has become a pacesetter for the entire state.
It must be noted that Siasat has launched awareness campaign and movement for 12 percent Muslim reservations. Mr. Amir Ali Khan attended the rally and public meeting held in Adilabad. It was decided to continue movement for 12% reservations and visit other districts too. Mr. Amer Ali Khan saluted the Muslim unity and community spirit of Adilabad and lauded united demonstration. Influential political personalities and community leaders of Adilabad hailed Mr. Amer Ali Khan’s efforts and announced their complete support to 12% Muslim reservation movement. On the occasion Muslim Joint Action Committee was formed and was told that this grand rally and public meeting was the beginning. It was demanded that the government immediately fulfil its promise of 12% reservation. The rally started from Eidgah Bhakapur, passed by Madina Masjid, Ambedkar Chowk, Gandhi Chowk, Devender Road, Ashok Road, old bus stand, Neta Chowk, Vinayak Chowk and culminated into a public meeting at NTR Chowk. Mr. Ghousuddin advocate convenor presided over the meeting.
Addressing on the occasion Mr. Amer Ali Khan said we can’t achieve success only through wishing, success can be achieved by striving for it. He appealed Muslims to continue their protest in democratic manner. He reminded Chief Minister of his promises and said that the government is evading serious measures to provide reservations to Muslims as a result the protest is getting intensified. He claimed that Muslims can’t be provided reservations by forming Sudhir Commission and demanded to form BC Commission.
President Adilabad Congress Minority Department declared Siasat’s efforts for 12% reservations as remarkable. He said ‘this is the beginning we will organise many such programmes to mount pressure on government.’ He claimed that 12% reservations are Muslims rights not charity. If promises made to the Muslims are not fulfilled then Muslim will not hesitate to oust TRS from power as they have given it power.
