Adilabad sizzles at 44 degree Celsius

Hyderabad, May 18: Temperatures continued to soar across the state particularly Telangana and Rayalseema regions, even as the denizens of Hyderabad got a respite on Tuesday with a cloudy evening.

There were reports about unseasonal rains in districts like Karimnagar, Medak and Mahaboobnagar.

The highest temperature of 44 C was recorded in Adilabad closely followed by 43.9 C in Nizamabad and Khammam, 42 C in Tirupati, 41.6 C in Ramagundam, Kadapa and Rentachintala and 41 C in Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Hyderabad.

While the day started with high temperature in the city, the denizens enjoyed a cloudy and a pleasant weather in the evening.

There was a slight drizzle at a couple of places in the city.

The Met officials said that the maximum temperatures rose at one or two places over Rayalaseema but fell at a few places over Coastal Andhra and Telangana regions. Isolated rain or thundershowers are expected across the state in the next 24 hours.

The Meteorological department announced that the monsoon will arrive in the state as per schedule.

The officials predicted that the monsoon will enter Kerala by the end of May and will arrive in Andhra Pradesh by June 5.

On the other hand, the temperatures are also likely to come down over the next week.
