Adhar card no. For LPG gas supply: time may be extended by two months

The Petroleum Ministry is likely to extend the deadline for furnishing Adhar card number for supply of subsidized cooking gas to domestic consumers by two months following a request of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in this regard. A communication in this regard might come from the Centre by Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that Oil companies had set February 15 deadline for consumers to furnish Adhar Card details for supply of LPG gas cylinders to households. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has directed the officials to open 200 more Adhar enrolment centers in addition to the present 210 centers functioning in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and Ranga Reddy district.
The State government had urged the Centre to extend the deadline as the consumers were not in a position to furnish Adhar card numbers by February 15. To this effect, Civil Supplies Minister D. Sridhar Babu has written to the Petroleum Minister M. Veerappa Moily. Besides, Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew also spoke to the Secretary of Petroleum Ministry and sought extension of the deadline.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, who is in the national capital, also spoke to the Petroleum Ministry officials about the subject. Under the circumstances, there was no need for the domestic consumers to worry about cooking gas supply to them, according to a pressnote issued by the Chief Minister’s Office today. (NSS)
