For only the second time in this Test, apart from the morning session of the first day, Indian bowlers had something to cheer about as they plucked some quick wickets in the post lunch period.
Soon after the play resumed, Umesh Yadav finally struck for India as he claimed the prized wicket of Australian captain Michael Clarke. Clarke was bowled as Yadav’s length delivery moved in after pitching and clipping his bails afterwards. He left Australia in a formidable position after scoring a prolific 210 (26X4, 1X6).
Ricky Ponting, who was closing in towards his highest Test score, got out to Zaheer Khan after scoring a brilliant 221.
In all India took four wickets in the session including the wickets of Michael Hussey and Peter Siddle.

Lunch Report
Michael Clarke (210*) completed his double century while Ricky Ponting (198*) was closing in towards one as the duo propelled Australia to 469/3 in no time at lunch on day 2 of the Adelaide Test on Wednesday.
Clarke’s double came in 256 balls with 25 fours and one six as he joined the likes of Don Bradman and Graeme Smith who have hit two double tons as a captain in the same series.
They began the day on an aggressive note creaming Ishant Sharma’s first and the day’s second over for 11 runs. That was only a signal to what was about to come. The duo completed 150 runs each and by the 100th over had partnered for over 300 runs.
By lunch, their partnership swelled to 385 runs, a record for India-Australia series while bettering their previous stand of 352 at Sydney this year.
The Australians were dealing in boundaries from the start and Indian fielders were seen chasing leather all over the park. A flurry of boundaries in the first seven overs of the day propelled their run rate in the session to over 5 runs.
Ponting, in particular, was at his vintage best as was the case on day 1. His powerful straight drives and pulls reminded of the heydays when Punter would completely dominate the opposition.
India, on the other hand, were in dearth of ideas to get rid of the two set batsmen with the bowlers consistently being picked for runs.
