Mumbai, October 29: BJP today said the Adarsh housing society scam has maligned the image of Maharashtra Government and alleged that state ministers were busy in their own development rather than that of the state.
“The incident where a prime defence land was allotted to the society to house politicians, bureaucrats as well as service chiefs showed how the politicians were involved in their own welfare rather than that of the state,” BJP president Nitin Gadkari said here.
“Maharashtra’s image has taken a beating, and other states have overtaken it in terms of development while politicians are busy in their own development,” he charged.
Terming the controversy as “unfortunate”, Gadkari said he would not demand the resignation of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan over the issue since his late mother-in-law was also one of the beneficiaries.
