Kathmandu : Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, today obstructed the Parliament meeting demanding Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli led-government to provide a lump sum of Rs. two lakh to earthquake victims to rebuild their houses.
Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar, following the obstruction, announced that the meeting was postponed for an hour.
Oli was scheduled to address the meeting about the present status of reconstruction works and progress on distribution of assistance to the earthquake victims.
He, however, could not address the House due to the obstruction.
Nepali Congress’ lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC, at the beginning of today’s meeting, criticised Oli-led government and warned that his party would not let the House proceed with its business unless the government addressed the concerns of quake victims, reports the Himalayan Times.
Nepali Congress, the largest political force in the legislative body, has been obstructing the House meeting for the past few days over the government’s failure to address the concerns of the earthquake victims. (ANI)
