Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar dies at 64

Veteran Bollywood and Marathi actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who was being treated for a lung infection at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here, passed away here this morning. He was 64.

Amrapurkar’s last rites will be performed in his native place in Ahmednagar District on Tuesday, reports quoted family sources, as saying.

Amrapurkar had won two Filmfare awards, one as best supporting actor in the 1984 film “Ardh Satya”, and the second as best villain for the role of a ruthless eunuch in the 1991 film “Sadak”.

His other prominent works included “Aankhen”, “Ishq”, “Coolie No. 1” and “Gupt: The Hidden Truth”.

He later shifted his focus to Marathi movies. Amrapurkar was last seen on the big screen in 2012 film ‘Bombay Talkies’.

He had become selective and was more into social work in the last few years. (ANi with inputs)
