Activists question Fadnavis’s leniency towards Hema Malini on land issue

Mumbai: Right to Information (RTI) activist Anil Galgali has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis questioning his leniency towards Bharatiya Janata Party MP Hema Malini, after a land measuring 2000 sq metres in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area valued in crores was allotted just for Rs 70,000.

“We have written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that on one hand the BMC is acting against all those who have acquired and misused BMC land illegally, and on the other hand the government is showing a lenient approach with Hema Malini,” RTI activist Anil Galgali told ANI.

“The government has not given the land as per the Ready Reckoner Rate and that the rates of 1976, this has caused a huge loss to the government,” he added.

He further said that this move of the government would boost the morale of the encroachers.

Galgali also said that the land allotted to the BJP MP in Mumbai’s Ambi Valli, have been rated as per land rated as per Rs. 140 square per meters and that she has to pay 25 percent of it.

“The BJP has shown some leniency towards Hema Malini because she is a Member of Parliament from that party. Earlier also Hema Malini was given a plot of land in Versova, but there the construction was not allowed and as a result the land which was reserved for the garden has been allotted to her,” he added.

An RTI enquiry has revealed that a land that is valued in crores currently has been allotted to veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini just for Rs 70,000.

The land measuring 2000 sq metres in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area, has been allotted to the actress at Rs 35 per sq meters, reveals an RTI reply received by Galgali. (ANI)
