Activists of BJP, Bajrang Dal intercept cattle trucks

Bajrang Dal activists intercepted trucks carrying cattle meant for ‘Qurbani’ for Eid-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice, at Janwada village near Narsingi. Tension prevailed in the area in the early hours of Monday when the activists damaged windscreens of the trucks. Police resorted to lathicharge and dispersed the mob when the people of minority community started gathering in protest.

According to details two trucks carrying oxen and cows near Janwada village were intercepted by a group of Bajrang Dal and BJP activists around 6 30 am. The activists pelted stones on the trucks and damaged the windscreens.

According to sources Narsingi police have booked a case under the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977 and another case against the Bajrang Dal activists for rioting under section 147 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
