Practice of black magic and witchcraft is rampant at Mehtar wadi area of the city. A lot of mehtars and mehtranis are misguiding people through these nefarious practices. The sad part of the story is that a long queue of burqa clad women is also witnessed in front of their houses. There are altogether 200 houses of mehtars in the area of which men and women practice witchcraft in 10 houses. They claim to ward off troubles and diseases. The kingpin among them is a mehtrani named ‘Bhabi’. She is quite famous not only in the country but also abroad. She spends 6 months a year in Hyderabad and the other 6 in gulf countries. She has a palace like house where every thing is imported. She extorts a huge money from her clients in the pretext of treatment. There is a mysterious bathroom in her house; she made young girls and women bath in the bathroom saying it contains water collected from 11 wells, she charges 51000 rupees for that. Besides that she charges 11000 rupees from the poor for 1 bottle of water.
Her satanic practices came to the fore for the first time, on March 16, 2011 through Urdu newspapers. Immediately after that the police came into action and arrested her on June 12, 2011. But she was released from jail a week later and now she is again on the go with her wicked deeds.
Similarly the police raided an unauthorized lodge at Sultan Shahi on June 7, 2011 and arrested an aamil and Arab nationals. The aamil was practicing witchcraft and black magic in the lodge and was also involved in flesh trading.
Task force team also arrested a qazi on June 26, who was performing Nikah of young and immature girls with Arab sheikhs. Both the men after they were freed from jail are on the go with their illegal and immoral practices, which have created restlessness among the locals. The locals and police are appealed to take immediate action against them and provide a clean atmosphere to the public.
