Acquire 4000 acres for Palamur project: Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to expedite the process of acquiring 4,000 acres of land for Palamur and other projects.

Holding a high-level review meeting here on Monday, Harish Rao asked the officials to supply water to Rabi crops only. He said irrigation waters will be distributed to eight lakh acres by next Kharif in the State. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is favoring speedy completion of the projects and the officials should make coordinated efforts to achieve the target. Some 10 lakh acres are to be irrigated through the Palamur-Ranga Reddy project, he added.

Harish Rao also instructed the farmers to irrigate crops that rely on water sources. The State government was keen on completing the Palamur- Ranga Reddy and other pending projects as per schedule, he said. He also reiterated that coordinated efforts will achieve the target of irrigating one crore acres over the next five years. He asked the officials to submit timely reports on the progress of the works of land acquisition and construction works of the projects.  (NSS)
