Purulia (WB), May 24: CPI(M) MP Basudeb Acharia escaped unhurt today when a truck hit his car and killed one roadside child on the National Highway 32 near Raghunathpur in Purulia district, police said.
According to police, the speeding truck hit Acharia’s car from behind damaging the vehicle. However, Acharia, who was coming from Jhalda from an election campaign, was not hurt.
The truck did not stop after the accident and again hit three persons of a family waiting for a bus, killing one and injuring two.
While Durgadas Barui (12) was killed, his brother Sibdas (9) and mother Tupu (30) were injured, they said.
The truck driver fled from the spot.
