Accused wanted in 15 robbery cases held

The Chaderghat Police today apprehended one person involved in 15 robbery cases under limits of nine police stations like Chaderghat, Narayanaguda, Afzalgunj, Vanasthalipuram, Saifabad, Santoshnagar, Abids, Kanchanbagh and Chandrayangutta.

 

The accused was identified as Jaffer Ali Khan, 32, an electrician-cum-firewood supplier residing at 283 Chowni, Yakathpura.

According to police, Jaffer Ali Khan, along with Syed Imran, Rizwan, Abdul Wali, Abdul Minhaz had committed crimes since 2007. He along with Imran was wanted by Vanasthalipuram police for robbing a DCM driver. The gang commits offences in late nights or in the early hours of the day. They target single vehicle drivers like Autos, Jeep, DCM and Lorry) who return after unloading goods. They follow the prey on their bikes and attack the driver and rob the man of whatever is available.

In Chaderghat case on November 29, both the accused followed lorry driver from Abids and stopped him at Chaderghat crossroads and picked up argument that the lorry driver hit a person at Koti Women’s college. On reaching the place, they robbed the driver of Rs 46,000 and his Nokia mobile phone. Based on the CCTV footage, P. Raju, Addl. Inspector, SI  Kamal Kumar, ASI Shankar, PCs Baba, Imran, Venkateshwarlu, and Kranthi of Chaderghat Police Station, under the supervision of ACP Sultan bazar  B. Chakravathy apprehended the accused at his residence and seized Rs 35,000 cash and a CBZ motorcycle.  Dr V. Ravinder, IPS, DCP East Zone, appreciated the team for their good work. (NSS)
