Dominique Strauss-Kahn faces a verdict on whether he is guilty of “aggravated pimping” the last of a string of legal challenges that started when a New York hotel maid accused him of sexual assault in 2011.
The former International Monetary Fund chief could get up to 10 years in prison and a 1.5 million euros (USD 1.7 million) fine if found guilty by a court in the French city of Lille on Friday. He is among a dozen defendants in a complex prostitution trial.
There is a good chance he may be acquitted. Even the prosecutor, unusually, said there wasn’t enough evidence for a conviction.
Strauss-Kahn has admitted to participating in orgies but denies profiting from prostitution or being aware that women involved in the case were prostitutes.
