Kota:An accountant of a hospital here was arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today after for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a vehicle transporter for sanctioning payment bills.
Pankaj Gupta was a contractual accountant at Jay Kay Lon hospital and arrested while accepting the bribe in front of the hospital from Bhuvanesh Sharma, said Arun Macchya, Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB.
Sharma supplies vehicles for transportation on contract basis under Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme and the accused accountant had demanded the bribe for sanctioning the payment bills, he said.
Sharma lodged a complaint with ACB yesterday and following the verification of the complaint, a trap was laid in the afternoon, the ASP said.
During search at Gupta’s residence here, government papers and accounts pointing at financial irregularities were also recovered, Macchya said.
These papers and accounts will be probed into and action will be taken accordingly, he added.
The accused accountant would be produced before the ACB court tomorrow.
