Sitapur: Ravi, a two year old boy was arrested for dacoity in chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh.
Police in UP’s Sitapur booked the toddler (Sections 457, 380 and 411) along with his family members in a case of theft. After the FIR was lodged against him, the boy was produced in court. The police allegedly registered the case without probing the facts.
The case
A theft occurred in Bajehra village in Sadarpur area on 20 September. On the basis of complaint filed by victim and other villagers, a case was registered against four including the boy, he said.
After police allegedly tried to arrest the boy, his father took him to surrender in district court from where with help of some lawyers he approached the SP office and narrated the incident to him.
Additional SP, Subhash Gangwar said the FIR was lodged on the basis of the complaint and the boy is a family member of one of the accused.
However, after media pressure, the police were forced to withdraw the case.
