ACB will be strengthened, says D-G

Rajahmundry, November 08: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General G Aravind Rao has said that the department would be strengthened with additional staff and added that they would urge the Government to allot 300 officers and staff from the 37,000 new police recruits.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Police Guest house here today, he said steps were being taken to spread awareness among people about the functions of the ACB. Boards with phone numbers of the ACB officials would be displayed at all government offices, he said.

The proposal to set up an ACB court in Rajahmundry was pending with the government, he stated. High Court judges would be appointed in the courts. ACB was giving top priority to eradicate corruption in government offices, he added. A few cases were getting watered down in the courts with persons passing on information to the ACB not giving witness in the court, the D-G added. It is the duty of every citizen to give information to the ACB about corruption, he said.
