On Thursday, Anti Corruption Bureau officials took into custody District Education Officer Prof Jagadish on the charge of accepting Rs.30,000 as bribe to reinstate a suspended teacher.
The complainant, Niranjan Reddy, who was a teacher in a primary school at Bandapalem village of Etepally mandal, was placed under suspension in December last year. When the teacher get in touch with the DEO for reinstatement in service, the DEO allegedly demanded Rs.30,000 as bribe.
The ACB laid a trap and seized the tainted money from the residence of Prof Jagadish, based on a complaint lodged by the teacher. The raid was conducted under the supervision of ACB DSP Prabhakar.
The DEO, however, stated that Niranjan Reddy had put the money on a table in his house after he refused to accept the bribe.
