In a major development, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday evening released TDP leader Vem Narender Reddy after questioning for nearly six hours in the ‘Cash for Vote’ case.
Narender Reddy was the TDP candidate for MLC elections held on June 1. He was arrested on the charges of trying to bribe nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote in his favour. The ACB already arrested TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and two others, Rudra Udaysimha and Harry Sebastian, in the case on May 31.
The ACB officials had served notice to Narender Reddy late on Tuesday night and asked him to accompany them for recording a statement. However, citing health reasons, the TDP leader refused to go along with the ACB officials and assured them that he would come to the ACB Headquarters at Banjara Hills to face questioning. He visited the ACB office at about 11 AM on Wednesday and was questioned for about six hours.
Amid reports that Narendra Reddy has been taken into custody, the ACB officials released him on medical grounds as he is suffering from heart ailments. (INN)
