ACB raids on RTA check posts, many held for graft

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General A K Khan on Saturday said the ACB sleuths conducted raids on RTA check-posts since Friday night.
Speaking to the media here, A K Khan said the sleuths raided RTA check posts at seven places and took officials and some private persons, who were helping them in corrupt deals into custody. Some Rs seven lakhs have been recovered from their possession, he added.
Khan said inquiry would be conducted against higher officials and staff posted at the check posts. The ACB has kept an eye on the officials against whom they have received complaints against their corrupt activities. In 2012-13, some 334 trap cases, 36 search and 36 illegal assets cases have been registered. Stringent action would be taken against the officials as well as those abetting corruption, he warned, he added.
He also said the ACB was acquiring cutting edge electronic equipments to extend its raids”, the ACB DG informed.
The sleuths of ACB last night conducted raids on RTA check posts of BV Palem in Nellore district, Naraharipeta in Chittoor district, Saluru in Nizamabad district and Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district. (NSS)
