Hyderabad, July 07: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has found no evidence of corruption against the former CM, Mr K. Rosaiah, in the Maitrivanam land deal case. The ACB will be submitting its report to the court shortly.
The ACB could not find evidence to build a criminal case against Mr Rosaiah and no witnesses testified on any bribe-taking by him. However, the ACB has found that the Land Acquisition Act has been violated, which is a civil matter. The allegation levelled against Mr Rosaiah was that he had favoured the TD leader, Mr G.N. Naidu, and 13 others by de-notifying land worth `200 crore near Maithrivanam in Ameerpet by accepting a bribe.
The area of 9.14 acres was de-notified from land acquisition when Mr Rosaiah was CM, on July 15, 2010. The complaint was lodged by advocate Mr T. Sriranga Rao who alleged that though the municipal administration department was against de-notifying the land, the then CM had recommended it and had issued GO 288 favouring the deal. The ACB had registered an FIR against Mr Rosaiah and Mr Naidu and 13 others, on March 9, 2011, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The probe showed that 32 acres of land that had been acquired by the government had already been returned to the original owners, but 9.14 acres was not.
