The Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested Karnataka MLA Gali Somasekhara Reddy, one of the main accused in the cash-for-bail case of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Somasekhar Reddy was arrested by the ACB officials when he appeared at the ACB office to face the investigations in connection with the cash-for-bail scam on fourth day on Monday. After his arrest, the officials shifted Somasekhar Reddy to Osmania General Hospital for medical checkup.
Later he was produced him the ACB court which remanded him to judicial custody till August 17.
The ACB had issued summons to both Somasekhar Reddy and Kampli MLA T H Suresh Babu in July asking them to appear before the investigating officer. However, instead of appearing before the ACB, the MLAs moved anticipatory bail petitions before the ACB court.
Though Kampli MLA Suresh Babu surrendered before the agency, Somasekhar Reddy appeared before the ACB a few days later.
