ACA reeking of corruption

Hyderabad, July 13: It is the duty of Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) to develop cricket locally and spot talent from the gully cricketers and transform them into international cricketers. The BCCI gives crores of rupees every year to the ACA for doing this. With these funds the Association should undertake construction of sporting facilities and organize training programmes for the players.

However some gentlemen of the ACA are keeping development of cricket aside and are craving for ACA positions for the money flowing into it from the BCCI. Elections are round the corner for the ACA. So, aspirants have started camp politics for getting key positions. There are 43 members from various districts of Seemandhra in the ACA. To get any post, the support of these members is essential.

Gokaraju Gangaraju and D V Subba Rao have started camp politics for getting the support of these members. Each member is being offered Rs. 15 lakhs for his support. It is learnt that there are 31 members in Gangaraju’s camp.

Camp politics are not new to ACA. These activities occurred when Chamundeswarinath was the Secretary in the past. Then Chamundeswarinath and Gangaraju were in the same group. Differences however sprouted between the two, later. As Chamundi faced sexual harassment of women cricketers, Gangaraju set him aside and became the Secretary.

It may be recalled that the ACB court has ordered investigation into the charges of misuse of funds against Gokarju Gangaraju and 9 others. Sleuths of ACB who registered a case have been checking the offices of ACA from Tuesday night to Wednesday. They have seized several key documents.

Several things have happened in quick succession on Wednesday. Elections were held amid camp politics. ACB raids were held on the same day. A Guntur court has directed that results should not be announced till the 20th of this month. As such, every eye is now on the ACA elections and results.
