Tension prevailed at the Ministers Quarters at Banjara Hills when the student under the aegis of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat tried to picket the quarters protesting the government move to go ahead with counseling for engineering colleges without prescribing the fee structure.
Raising slogans against the government decision to set conditions for implementing the scheme, the ABVP students alleged that the government wants to dilute the Fee Reimbursement scheme considering the financial constraints. They demanded that the government implement fee reimbursement scheme in letter and spirit as it benefitted thousands of poor and middle class students to pursue higher studies. They said that the government should implement the scheme to all eligible students.
The ABVP leaders warned the government of serious consequences if it plans to dilute the scheme citing financial constraints.
The ABVP students had a heated argument with police over the issue at Minister’s Quarters. Sensing that the situation might go out of control, the police arrested the activists and shifted them to a nearby police station. (INN)
